A Major Opportunity to Support Operational Excellence
ACM Facility Safety developed a Functional Safety “Operating System” called Machu Picchu (MP). In order to improve Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives and support Operational Excellence, this operating system enables risk to be quantitatively measured. It also provides for the effective management of all safeguards, SIS and non-SIS, effectively. (i.e. Operator Rounds, Inspection Procedures, PSV’s, Mechanical Trips).
COURSE OBJECTIVE
The Machu Picchu Operating System (MP) is a knowledge based decision making system that integrates: 1) plant operating data; 2) expert knowledge of protection layers; 3) risk-based decision criteria; and 4) contingency planning.
MP measures Risk Exposure by continuously monitoring your plants’ process and diagnostic alarms, incorporating operator observations on a process unit or plant in real time. It calculates the integrity of all active Safeguards and computes Risk Exposure by comparing real time risk data to the design risk data CAPTURED in the original plant design Risk Assessment studies (i.e. HAZOP, LOPA).

Mr. Bingham is the Principal of ACM Facility Safety and a TÜV certified Functional Safety Expert. His background is in engineering design and management, involving safety, instrumentation, electrical and control systems. With Ken’s 27 years on the client side, integration side and the SIL consulting side, he brings a holistic and practical perspective. Mr. Bingham has participated on ISA S84 SIL standard committees, has presented numerous papers and courses on SIL Analysis and is the Chief Technical Architect for ACM’s Machu Picchu, MP Real Time Risk Exposure.
