Why not have your facilitators try an MP ready HAZOP

Home Page Video

Focus on the operations side of HAZOP’s using our tried and proven methodology for contingency planning and real time risk exposure.

It all starts with a great HAZOP.

Deadly tragedies like the explosion and fire at the Tesoro refinery in Anacortes Washington State, that killed 5 workers are alarming wake-up calls for refineries.

At ACM, our mission is to prevent these catastrophic events from happening in the first place.

In order to get the most out of SilCore, you should be a HAZOP / LOPA Facilitator, a Loss Prevention Engineer, an SIS Expert, a TUV Functional Safety Engineer, or have a very strong background in Functional Safety.

You should also be very familiar with the concepts taught in our SIL Determination and SIL Validation workshops.

What is SilCore™?

SilCore™ is a field proven, IEC compliant Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Life Cycle tool that gives high integrity and critical control systems designers, engineers, operators and maintainers the information and power to conduct SIL Determination, Validation and Optimization exercises.  Developed by ACM Facility Safety over several years and used successfully on onshore and offshore projects, SilCore™ is truly unique in its ability to integrate all aspects of the SIL Life Cycle – from importing Risk Assessment (i.e. HAZOP) data through to enabling facility operators to manage the integrity of safety and critical control systems.

Here are a few typical situations our clients use SilCore for;

Situation #1:  How to build 100’s of SIL Verification loops and you have been given (2) days to complete.

ACM Quad Model: Q2 - Engineering / Design

Build 100's of SIL's

Model A Single SIF

Scenario:  You have been asked to build 100’s of SIL Verification loops and given (2) days to do this. How would you do this?
SilCore Advantage:  SilCore's ability to pre-store user failure data, and create library type files helps the user to replicate SIL loops and build up loops quickly. Building 100’s of loops is accomplished in a few hours by an average SilCore user.
Key SilCore Features: User Data Base-pre populated with Instrument Tag data; Library files; Replicate Function
Key Words: Loop Replication, Build SIL Loops

Situation #2:        2 years after commissioning, a Pressure Transmitter fails

ACM Quad Model:     Q4 - Operations and Maintenance Mode
When SiL Rated Functions Fail
Scenario: On a live operating plant, when SIL rated functions fail, doing the right thing will avoid high risk situations and ensure operations are within Corporate Acceptable Risk standards. Do you know what to do? Can you reconfigure redundant equipment, increase testing intervals, use backup procedures, and survive with the function out of service? What are the options, and what's the best option?
SilCore Advantage:    SilCore is a SIL Lifecycle tool and retains all HAZOP data, SIL Determination data, SIL verification data, Instrument Tag Data and trends all changes so users can quickly assess the impact of failure.
Key SilCore Features:   Scenario; Optimization; Out of Service reporting; SRS (not available in SilCore but required for this situation)
Key Words:        SIL failure; SIS failure; Voting degradation; SIS operations & maintenance

HAZOP Import –SilCore includes a HAZOP import function which gives users the ability to seamlessly and effortlessly import HAZOP data from any CSV file to save time and ensure data integrity.

Determine Optimal SIS Architecture with First Modeling Engine – SilCore’s modeling tool has no limit to the complexity of its designs as It offers users the flexibility to design SIF loops using MooN voting.  Engineers and technologists can easily determine the best SIS architecture using an unlimited number of different and complex SIF configurations.

SilCore Offers a Field-proven Failure Rate Database –SilCore comes equipped with an extensive failure rate database compiled using only field-proven data to ensure the most accurate calculations.  Users can also easily import their own data into the database and update changes to reflect the failure rates over time.

SIL Determination Flexibility - SilCore gives users the option of calculating unmitigated risk using the most common SIL Determination  methodologies – Risk Graph, Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), and Safety Layer Matrix as per IEC 61511

SIL Optimization - Enables designers to quickly optimize the configuration and redundancy of devices and parameters (failure rate, repair time, test interval, diagnostic coverage, common cause and safe failure fraction)

SilCore Offers Automated Reports -  SilCore automatically generates reports for each project and offers users the option of printing worksheets, HAZOP reports, project recommendations, validation reports, and LOPA loop reports.

SilCore Complies with IEC 61511 allowing the user to complete SIL Determination and determine the optimum configuration of components

SIL Determination and SIL Validation Time Savings compared to the traditional spreadsheet method of SIL Determination and SIL Validation

Uses One Powerful SIL Program to Manage Multiple Projects, whether there are 8 or 800 SIL loops or Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF)

Simple SIL Graphic Displays that instantly show you when have reached your Target SIL or if you still have to do some tweaking

Single SIL Data Handover in a user friendly format that Operating Companies can use to manage the SIL loops (SIF) over the life of the facility
