2012 TRAINING COURSES

Safety Lifecycle Experience Hands on Workshop (2 day)

Safety Lifecycle Experience Hands on Workshop Manual CoverThis 2-day Safety Lifecycle Experience Hands on Workshop is designed to involve the participants in many aspects of the Safety Lifecycle that ultimately affect operations. From a good P&ID to a great back-up plan for operations, ultimately many people must be involved to make this a success.

TÜV FSEng - SIS Certification (4-day + 1/2 day Exam)

TUV FSEng - SIS Certification Manual CoverACM Facility Safety is Canada's only course provider for the TÜV Functional Safety Program by TÜV Rheinland Industrie Service GmbH - Automation, Software and Information Technology (ASI), in the field of  SIS - Safety Instrumented Systems.

The TÜV FSEng training course offers engineers the chance to obtain a certificate verifying their expertise in the field of Functional Safety.  The course also covers the various steps in the IEC 61511 standard.

P&ID / Engineering Drawings Interpretation

P-IDManualCoverBUILD A SOLID FOUNDATION with an understanding of various engineering drawings such as P&IDs, Plot Plans, and PFDs. Safety issues, design/installation defects and mal-operation all have a financial impact that can be greatly reduced by properly training employees who have a solid foundation in the fundamentals of P&ID (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) interpretation. The P&ID / Engineering Drawings Interpretation training course introduces the various drawings used in the process industry.

PHA / HAZOP Leadership Workshop (3-day)

PHA HAZOP Manual Cover

The PHA / HAZOP Leadership Workshop delivers expert instruction on planning and executing Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) studies efficiently and effectively.  This includes understanding the principles behind each of the major PHA methods (HAZOP, What-if?, Checklist, FMEA), learning how to deal with challenging personalities within the PHA team and how to avoid common pitfalls and traps so your PHA studies run smoothly.

How to Integrate HAZOP and LOPA Studies (1-day)

Intro to SIL Manual Cover

This one day course provides an overview of the HAZOP and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) methods and introduces students to the idea of producing a HAZOP ready for SIL Determination.  Students will learn how an integrated HAZOP / LOPA approach will impact the LOPA analysis by reducing session times and improving the confidence and accuracy of the SIL determination. Students will also learn what other steps follow after SIL Determination, and the importance they play to minimize operational risk exposure. The course will also introduce a simplified lifecycle model to enable a quick and easy understanding of "Functional Safety" and how the HAZOP / LOPA methods fit within the IEC 61511-1/2/3 standard.

SIL Determination / LOPA Workshop (2-day)

SIL Determination Manual CoverThis 2-day course is designed to deliver expert instruction on how to successfully plan and execute Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Determination studies efficiently, effectively and in accordance with the IEC 61511 standard.

SIL Validation Workshop (2-day)

SIL Validation Manual CoverThis 2-day course is designed to provide students with the tools necessary to perform SIL Validation studies compliant with the IEC 61511 standard.  The practical course uses real life examples to demonstrate to students how to conceptually design multiple Safety Instrumented Functions (SIFs) to meet the specified safety integrity levels.

Identify Hidden Danger in your Plant (60 minutes)

ACM Facility Safety developed a Functional Safety “Operating System” called Machu Picchu (MP). In order to improve Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives and support Operational Excellence, this operating system enables risk to be quantitatively measured. It also provides for the effective management of all safeguards, SIS and non-SIS, effectively. (i.e. Operator Rounds, Inspection Procedures, PSV’s, Mechanical Trips).
